This wonderful breed have gained so much popularity I thought I would list all the reasons why I love them so much:
  • Their teddy bear appearance - The Australian Labradoodle should have a compact square conformation. They are of an athletic build with medium bone structure. My favourite coat is the stunning fleecy wave with its non-shedding tendency. Its wonderful to have four dogs and not have to worry about hair all over the floors and furniture.
  • Temperament - Calm, friendly and the ability to just ‘know’ make them a popular choice for families with children or individuals with special needs. My husband and I say all the time its like they’re trying to tell us something, due to their excellent eye contact.
  • Energy - The Australian labradoodle strikes the perfect balance of athleticism.  I am always asked how much exercise they require.  They are fabulously easy to live with. Happy to be in your company, when you sit they will sit or lay down. If you want to play they will play. They love balls and are fast runners out in the open.  Therefore, the best of both worlds.
  • Training - As previously stated, the ALD have excellent eye contact and are therefore easy to train.  The amount of time you can put into your new puppy and continue to do so, as your dog grows and develops, will ensure a well balanced, well mannered dog that will be easy to live with.  Starting off on the wrong foot can be hard to correct.

Sizes and Coats

The Australian Labradoodle comes in three sizes – I breed all sizes.
  • Miniature - Measuring a dog in the standing position from floor to the top of the shoulders  – 14-16 inches but not more than 17 inches.
  • Medium - Between 17-20 inches but not more than 21inches.
  • Standard - Between 21 – 24 inches – not more than 25 inches.

Coat Types

  • Fleece - The fleece is soft textured and is of the appearance of a spiral wave or a looser wavy look.  My favourite coat.
  • Wool - Tight wool coat.
  • Hair - This type of coat sheds and has an odour.

Colour

Australian labradoodles come in a variety of different colours such as red, apricot, cream, black or parti colours. I mainly breed reds and partis (red/white, apricot/white).
